I am a Cleveland native, and live in Bedford, Ohio.  After brief stint as an engineering student at Case Western Reserve University, I earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from Kent State University (1985), with a concentration in painting, and participated in the Post-Baccalaureate Certificate Program in Painting at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. In addition to being an exhibiting artist I have worked as a professional faux finisher for 30+ years, both as a self-employed artisan and for the family-owned decorating company. I enjoy the outdoors and am an active rock climber and runner; outdoor experiences inform my current work to a great degree. I am married to Paula St. John, an art teacher with the Cleveland Metropolitan School District.
